I'm not gonna pretend to be a Civ expert. I'm not a modder, or anything like that.

BUT I have played Civ since it was a box game in the 80's, and I absolutely love the game. Did you ever love something so much you can't stand its imperfections? This is the nature of my message. Remember, I love - heck, practically worship Civ.

I hope so badly SOMEONE at Firaxis reads these suggestions, BECAUSE they come from a place of love, and I really think these will help the game - if it's not too late to implement them:

1) Endgame. In the entire history of Civ, the endgame has always been sudden - BOOM!, game's over, here's an animation of you filling up the map, that's it, bye-bye! But, throughout the game there are demographics, historical events, wars, etc. What would be nice is a sort of endgame recap that's deeper than just a map animation and a (sort of meaningless) score ranking against some theoretical all-time Civ score.

Think a PowerPoint presentation of your game. "1100 BC - The Carthaginians take Athens, capturing the Mausoleum of Halicarnasus . . . 1490 AD - The end of the 300 year Babylonian - German war. Babylon is defeated . . . 1620 British spies acquire the Printing Press, launching a new era of religious reform . . ." Have slides. Connect the dots between events in the game. Maybe make it customizable - what do people want to see in their recaps? Military? Money? City growth? Wonders? That sort of thing. And have a few different tabs there, so people can review their statistics and compare those, as well. Those are useful in the game, but a lot of them are far more interesting when the game is over. Who took the most cities? Who held the most land? For the longest? Let people review and analyze their game after the fact even if they didn't win. Especially if they didn't. Maybe even have some video replays in there. In short, flash up that endgame, man. Please! That is my number one suggestion of all time. The way it has always been is truly so anticlimactic - I really think every single person who's ever played the game will agree with that.

2) Corporations. Bring them back, PLEASE! I mean, dude, look at the impact of business on history. That's really all that needs to be said, right? The way corporations worked in Civ IV was awesome! The one thing about corporations that was KIND OF weak was the number of them and the limited types. There should be lots, with some kind of mashing up of company names and types - Sid's Sushi Company, Sid's Films, Sid's Bank . . . I forget the other names from Civ IV, but you get the idea. Have fun with corporations, man. Have some defense contractors, some space tech companies, some fitness chains . . . Let everyone claim corporations the way religions are claimed, but let get more. We can find out who owns what corporation by investigating further.

And likely, as is often the case in real life, have some sort of interaction between capitalism and religion - a tug of war where they compete for cultural influence, cooperation and synergy, etc. It would be pretty realistic. Though, like I say, sometimes they enhance each other, too - aka, the New Age movement selling products.

3) Espionage. Again, Civ IV had waaay better espionage - with specific missions like sabotaging production, poisoning the well, assassination, etc. It was more engaging. Espionage in Civ V is still pretty fun. The diplomacy thing is nice, and thank the gods we can still steal techs, but the spies need lots of kinds of missions. There's just not enough complexity there. Not enough spies, really. Just have more, with more missions, but make it harder for them to succeed and level them up. Then losing them is either no problem or a major setback. Only high enough level spies can perform certain missions. That sort of thing.

4) Multiplayer. I always get this "Unsupported Number of Players" thing when I'm playing a multiplayer game that's supposed to support more players, according to Civ V itself. So, you know, just bigger maps, and more players in general actually supported in the LAN and multiplayer online.

5) I absolutely LOVE the ability to customize or personalize things, too. My wife and I have this ongoing thing with naming our religions that's hilarious. Hers will be something like "She of the Flowers," and mine will be "Chtulhism." I name my naval vessels so I can keep track of their purpose, etc. Anywhere you can add customization is just great.

6) If I didn't mention it, don't fix it, because it's perfect!

Civ is the greatest game of all time, no doubt.

Thanks for your time. Peace Out.
