hi guys..
i allways played (vanilla) civ3 1.00 US.. and everything was fine.
now i patched to 1.29f, the corruption prob that troubled me most is solved, nice patch.. BUT now my cities just do what they want to do.. they produce tons of workers while each city got 10-20 inaktiv workers waiting for jobs like terretory expansion (new irri, roads etc) or cleaning pollution..
i told the governor to NEVER build WORKERS in ALL CITIES!
but they just don't care... even if other things got marked OFTEN, it's ignored..
no matter if i manage produktion via govenor or civ3 manages production for me..
every square of my terretory is fully upgraded with irri/mines, roads and railroads.. 300 workers on ~35 cities and he still wants more.. even if the city size is "1"..
every turn i just press A or B and hold it for about 1 minute.. :crazyeye: that cannot be real!
i don't wont to set every city task by hand, 20 turns would take hours to play.. therefor they included the govenor thing i guess..

anyone an idea to solve the prob?

ps: the "allways build previously built unit" field is unchecked!

i never really played civ3 with auto govnors ,mainly cause settings never really seemed to save themselves. try playing with make capitol default for new cities checked and always build last unit checked. it doesnt take long to manually control your cities and you probly get better feeling from being completely in control

sorry couldnt really help with your prob but trying that way may be better than 100s workers

first of all thanks 4 ur answer! ;)

hm i was tired of confirming the production proposals - especially in modern times if improments take 2-3 turns only - so i prefered the auto govenor.. it suppresses these dialogue boxes.. =)

i found out that this prob occures mostly if off.units, def.units an workers are disaibled in govenor menu..
i like to play peacefull and just starting cleaning up when all techs are dicovered and all my cities got all improvements..
so i tried to suppress unit production but if nothing is allowed, he builds worker.. in production list is wealth and i gain hte wealth bonus.. so i don't care..
in my last game, only captured cities didnt want to produce improvements.. till a certain turn.. i dont know when, but since then, everything worked properly (besides producing wealth and spitting out one worker per city each turn, but as i said, i dont care anymore [if all improvements are built] ^^)

today i testet the 60 mins c3complete trial (just played c3conquests)
i guess i found an alternativ -perhaps "bugless"- i know civ4 is out now, but i'll get c3c asap =)

i never played peaceful so never really had the prob u had eheh
ony time i produce extra workers is when i capture a city and reduce the pop to 1 , then rebuild with workers of my nationality.

as for civ4 be prepared for headaches with it i even took mine back to the shop cause i couldnt get it to run stable. wait till after next patch if i were u

i just started palying civ3 again wots c3complete trial?

just found it via bittorrent... its a test version published from trymedia, that gives u 60 mins to test c3complete.. after this trial time u got to buy it for 39.99$..
trymedia is a good solution to test games before buying them.. i read civ3 gold (nilla+ptw) got 3 hours test time.. 1 hour c3c was quite short, but i saw enough to get it ^^

I've used automated workers in the past.....what a backward past I have behind me......but I never automated governors.

Of all things that's just to important. You have to balance what you build and the governors only think about their own cities and orders youve given them in the past.

By the way, I'm not a micro manager, I control my workers but I'm not yet good enough(or patient) to micro manage.
