Ok, I'm playing a Regicide game, and the single most irritating thing is that I can surge into my opponents' territory, make a beeline for their capital, kill their king and lay waste to the entire empire at once without a very good fight. Shouldn't the AI at least CONSIDER getting their king outta Dodge when a 10 Hoplites, 10 Horsemen, and 10 Swordsman come shooting up the pike?

Logosys: welcome to CFC. :band: [dance]
I have yet to play a regicide game where the AI moved the King unit; they keep them in the capital regardless of what is moving toward them. That's the major reason I no longer play w/the option(even though some of the king units are kinda cool).

the only exception(and I'm sure I will be corrected if I'm wrong ;) ) would be the Feudal Japan scenario in Conquests.

I will take the responsibility and correct you ;) even in senguko they don't move their kings (daimyos) out and they dont upgrade it very often either.

Anyway regicide is really a broken option because it is so easy. Mass regicide is a bit harder because the AI will spread out it's kings to several major cities, but even then it's still way too easy.

Yeah, in Sengoku, I have won the game by sending a small convoy out who would go to an enemy's capital early on and not declare war until they were going to be forced out or ready to attack the enemy capital. This is also the awesome thing about ninjas. You can get there, declare war, and kill the king with little or no risk. This makes Sengoku way too easy.

I'm not so sure, I was playing an epic game with a friend, on regicide. Of course, we took full advantage of the AI's inability and killed of half of the civs in not time at all, but when it came to one of the remainders, we couldn't find the king unit anywhere! I'd conquered the capital and most of their other major cities.

I think the AI does move the king sometimes, but not very often. Maybe it's dependant on your reputation, as we had been ROP raping like no tomorrow. Perhaps the AI is capable realising what we were up to? I'd like to think so...
