If you are in possession of 3Dmax and the game Dawn of War or just 3Dmax.
Please help out with this:

Dawn of War has some low and medium resolution models that both the WH40K and the WH long for. By polycount they promise useability in Civ. All that there is needed is someone willing to import those models and export them as uvmapped nif-files.

Importscripts for 3Dmax are found here:

http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=76791&page=1&pp=15

If you don't own DoW or don't know how to get the models(cause they're packed) pm me. I can provide the needed tools(or links for them) and/or unpacked models if need be(and you send me your mail).

This request is just about the meshes. I don't request you animate them for us, but if you want to all the better:) Without animation weapons, heads and other attachables could still be very useful for nifediting with the viewer. Also buildings could be nice.

Thx in advance

Ill help you out ploep, but i dont have the game, like you said you can send me the files.

Cool! I will prepare some sample files and send them to you. The total amount of files is about 1 GB. Obviously that way we can't get at any model but at least some and we will know if it works. But remember I need them properly uvmapped otherwise they won't be of much use:) The mail will contain about 2-3 MB meshes.

If you encounter problems with the files post here. I'll check frequently.

If this works it would be fantastic! All I'd have to do is find somebody willing to rig them up and animate them and the WH40k mod would be sorted.

Ok got ya, ill UV map them if they need to be, most likely the importer will import them as well, and if were lucky well import the skeleton and animation. This all depends on the sophistication of the Importer/Exporter.

Edit: Are you going to send these Via E-mail?

Hey ploep, Im sorry, I left when you sent me email and i was not home. I came back now and tried the tools, the .WHE importer gives me an error stateing not enough scripting memory, soo i raised the scripting memory and same error, But the bones were imported sucessfully. Ill keep playing around with it and see what happens

NP. Check the scriptthread closely. The script definitly works! The question is does it work to export to civ afterwards.

Yea once we have all that we imported, we will definatnally be able to export.

It's been done before with other games, it'll be done again. Loads of the Civ 3 unit animations were direct covertions of animations from other games, for example.

If relic didn't want people with access to their models they would have probably taken down the tool that allows it, which is posted on their site.
