Forbidden Palace available question

When does the FP become available? Usually by the time I want to build the FP I can. Right now I am at 350 BC, despot, 15 cities on same continent and want to start the FP because my cities are stretched across the continent, feom shore to shore. Three AIs above and 3 below.

According to info I checked, all I am supposed to need is 8 cities. What am I missing?

well,

the number of cities required VARIES from the SIZE of the map.

The forbbiden palace requires a certain number of city.. the CITY YOU WANT TO BUILD IT IN must have 10 citizens (again.. this could vary with map.. but im not sure) or around there of YOUR NATION'S RACE and they must not be angry.

nah there's no requisite of population and nationality for the FP.. You just need to reach a certain number of cities, which is dependant on the OCN (Optimal City number) which is dependant on the map size. The bigger the map, the more cities you need before building the FP.

Some mods/scenarios have different rules too (techs required for example, different OCNs, etc)

thats the strange thing then.

when i wanted to build a forbbiden palace in Berlin when i destoryed Germany, it would not let me. I checked somewhere and it says i must have 10 citizens of my race content.

I am playing on a huge map with max AIs. No city with more than 7 pop. Gonna have to wait and see just what triggers the FP.

Guess it may not be as cut and dry as I thought.

The only requirement for the FP is a certain number of cities. That certain number is dependent on the size of the map on which you are playing. Playing on a huge map means you need more cities than if you were playing on a smaller map.

To build the FP, you need to meet or exceed the OCN for that map. Each map has a set number of cities for OCN and this number is editable in the editor.

You can leader rush an FP but the FP can flip. I have done this in a newly conqured capitol quite often.

Its actually >= OCN/2 IIRC.
