Frame rate drop after leader screens

So, ever since the most recent update, the one that added the new launcher, I've had this problem where after I exit an AI leader screen, my frame rate drops significantly. Normally the game runs at between 50 and 60 FPS for me, but when this happens it drops to between 10 and 20. It seems to be random whether an interaction with the AI will trigger this or not, and the only way that I can find to fix it is by exiting to desktop - if I exit to the main menu and reload my game, the frame rate will still be at the 10-20 mark. Furthermore, if I enter into a leader screen after this has triggered, the effects are reversed, as long as I'm in the leader screen - the frame rate will rise to about 55 again, dropping once more on leaving the leader screen. Also, if I enter and then leave strategic mode, it causes an even larger frame rate drop. I was wondering if anyone else has encountered a similar issue, and if so, does anyone know any solution. This becomes painful in the late game when I'm seemingly getting a request/demand/denouncement from every AI every turn, causing my game to grind to a halt.
