Frequent Crashes

The main reason I don't play Civ 3 are its frequent crashes.
I mean it crashes all the time, and at random. Thats what I really hate...
I get to the modern age and BOOM crash BOOM crash.

For some reason when it ends a piece of music BOOM another random crash.

What is this?! Why can't i just get to the modern age?!

Theres no error message. The game just closes...

Is it a stock game, or a scenario that you've modded? I've been having the same issue on a modded vanilla Civ game with no consistent cause, but the CTD always occurs in the mid-industrial ages (and never with any error message). Reloading saved games can shift the time the crash happens, but not stop it.

If anyone has any ideas that can help us out, we're waiting...

Could this be down to the game looking for a item that’s not in its files? Such as a unit, building or resource that becomes available at certain times?

if it crashing in an era then it could be the game looking for such a file. I had the same problem a while back, and after some investigation, i found the silicon resource was missing, and hence crashing the game in the modern era.

This, i think, only happens in mods... or player made maps and units.

If the game crashes because it´s missing a file, it will give you an error message that says so. I reckon the era-crash happens without giving you a message.
I have experienced this one as well, but a de-/reinstalling of the whole program worked for me. It is a pain, but did you try that?

I tired restalling but i get the same crash. I have attached the error to this tread. Any idea to what causes the error?

KingCruz--I tried turning music off, and it bought me a few more turns, but still wound up crashing at a later point (always in the industrial era, somewhere around researching refining or an equivilently timed tech). Still don't know what's causing it, if it's an era issue or just a fault with my mod. Try disabling the music and see if that'll help your issue.
