I'm playing Civ 2.42 on Prince level and not doing too badly. It's 1907 and my population is at 320,000,000. (and doesn't appear to grow!).

I have also noticed I can only get 16 scientists/tax bods out of a city and the rest have to stay as entertainers.

Are these correct limits on the game? Are there any more documented anywhere? Will my cities actually continue to grow? Presumably my score will now just increase by the number of future techs I learn and by getting the spaceship off safely?

The game has lots of limits.

You can have only 240 or 250 or so cities

You can only have 40,000 gold (I think)

Your population will only register as 320 million. In one case I had it revert back to 10,000 (Although that number that they show has no meaning to the game)

You can only get 255 future techs (somewhere around there)

You can only get 400 extra points from the space ship

Your elvii/alberts/taxcollectors count as content citizens so you can only have cities up to size forty that will still celebrate

There are a few more that I don't know

Actually, the maximum number of cities is 255. 0-255 fits in a byte, and you can have 0 cities.. so the maximum that you can have as a civ is 254.
