Game plays fine - but graphics problems

ive got the same problems, the map turns black after playing for awhile and doesnt work on huge or large at all. i have a GeForce FX 5200 128mb, all my specs meet or exceed the recommended ones but it doesnt seem to matter

I'm having the same problem too!!! Everything seems to work fine except for this blackness problem. I've tried all three graphics levels with no luck. My computer is: AMD 3200+, 512 MB of RAM, GE Force4 MX. Screen shots are attached. Zoomed in shows the blackness problem, zoomed out everything looks fine. Please help!!!

i have the same problem with the dark screen ,if you use the mouse roller you can see the land but can not see the units. what gives is this normal ?
the civ series is now becoming complicated perhaps it is time end buying it.

everything is all right except text. it is like arabian, it is very difficult to read anything. all rafics are low... but everything is OK, what should i do?
