game stopped working

I had it finally working then I decided to download 2 patches [?]. I downloaded v1.22 patch (all languages) / &/ V1.29 f (English).

Now when i try to play it keeps telling me to insert the CD disk....

I not computer person and have no idea why i did any downloads or how to fix this problem.

Anyone have any suggestions????

Well, is your CD in the drive? That is the most obvious thing, but I suspect you checked that.

It may be you have to install them in the right order, PTW then C3C. Not sure.

If you got Civ3 from a download you shouldn't need the patches.

yes I did download game.... so I need to delete the patches....

I only have basic CIV 3 ,, was hoping patches were extra games,,,see not computer person...

Yes the patches are bug fixes and updates, not the games themselves. If your vanilla game is not patched all the way up you might want to do that though.

I do highly recommend buying Conquests or Complete, they are very cheap ($5-10 range) and are both great additions to the game. They also allow you to play most of the mods hosted on this site, another bonus.

That was an issuewith the drm. iirc they use Securom and one of the patches caused the failure. I would first install with no patch and check the level as it may have come with the fixes on. If it was issued in the last 5 years, it likely has the patches on.

I cannot recall, if thius was a black list issue or what, it was just too long ago. I do not have that problem, no matter how many times I have moved to a new PC or reformatted and installed. I go with the last poatch only 1.29f for vanilla and 1.22 for c3c.

thanks for everyones help.... i still cant get it to work,,,,,- was fine till i interfered with it.

i think i need to delete everything to do with civ 3 and start again.

@vmxd - I have no idea what 'drm.iirc' is.

I would like to install the complete version as I have on my other laptop,,which also isnt working properly... curser movements are start stop and then lappy goes black and freezes,,,, i have to turn off lappy and re start just to get anything back.

IIRC - If I Recall Correctly.

Assuming you purchased a copy for download, you'll need to get the patch, if needed, from them as they've got a different way of handling copy protection. Probably not, as the 1.29f patch came out years ago and is considered the final patch for regular Civ3.

If you go to Steam, you can buy Civ3:Complete for something like $5.00. It's fully patched and ready to go. Of course, then you have to deal with Steam on your computer.

If you've gotten the game through different means, well, unfortunately we can't help you with that.

Ok, I lied. Steam has it for $2.49 right now.
