I apologize if this isn't necessarily the best place to post this, but I presume other FFH players use Firefox and experience the same issue, and may have a solution.
What is the deal with seemingly being unable to download any files from Gameflood with Firefox? Today I tried to upgrade my FFH to .30, patch e, with the media pack. While attempting to download the Media pack in Firefox, the Download link would take me to a page that asked me to either install the download manager or to download without installing it. Seeing as I how I do not rely on Gameflood for anything else, I opted to download without the manager. It took me back to the page and said only that 'No download manager installed' and did not give me another link to download the file (only the original link, which took me back to ask if I wanted the download manager or not). I was forced to switch the tab to IE in order for it to provide the download. Similarly, the .30 patch itself did not even have a download link - there was a 'Play' link with the options, in Firefox, of only 'Play Now' or 'Install Files', both taking me to the page to install the download manager. In the IE tab, a third option was added to 'Download via browser,' which functioned as you would expect: it asked me to save the file.
So, is there any way to download using Firefox directly? That they seem to require the download manager in Firefox, or simply using IE, makes me very suspicious. While I'm sure it is unfounded paranoia, I cannot help but think there is something less than honest when you require people to use a relatively insecure browser (IE) or your own program, which could do anything beyond what you say it does.
This is not the first time I've had issues with Gameflood (when I lasted updated FFH, to .29, I had a similar issue, but after clicking through an undue amount of links I was finally able to access the file to download), but it is the first time that I was forced to use IE to download the file.
Is there perhaps any possibility of hosting these files on other websites in addition to Gameflood, such as Fileshack?
