Since waiting for CIV3 seems pointless in regards of scenario making (at least for a while) I submit to the community a 0.1 version of a scenario I've been thinking for a while.
It is still far from finished but I would very much appreciate help in any form :crazyeyes , both in terms of play testing (is the idea interesting, does the game play smoothly, does it give a taste of the unique flavour of the times?), and in terms of ideas/contributions.
As I am saying in the (again just begun) readme I grabbed here and there.

Thanks all

Count me in as a playtester...

What kind of scenario are you planning on?

whats the scenario about? i don't wanna download it if it's a sci-fi scenario or a futuristic one ;)
i like playing history :D

Well here comes the introduction.
This is a remako of The Italian Renaissance Scenario available in the download section here at CivFanatic.
My intention is to rewamp it a bit mainly with some ideas and mechanics from excellent scenarios like Seize the Crown and Cross and Crescent.
It covers the period between the Peace of Lodi (1454) and the climax of Italian wars between France and Spain.
Basically you should try to unite Italy.

As I already stated, this is a work-in-progress post to get some contribution both in technical and playability aspects.

Perhaps you could post some more details, e.g what civs are used, or a screenshot? I´m just curious...

BeBro, why don't you just download it? It's only 250 Kb ;)

Maybe that's because I'm new to this community but my intention was just to submit a less-than-done project to raise the suggestions of more "expert" designers.
The areas where I feel really weak are mostly in the graphical and change to Pedia area.

As it is now, I fear the scenario is not really fun.

My hope is to produce with your help something similar to the excellent games from John Ellis such as Hellas and Seize the Crown.

The basic idea was to have this scenario in CIV3 using the culture model which should fit very well in a Renaissance scenario, but as you all know the game is not supporting scenarios fpr the moment (and it's not shipping here in the Boot anyway  )

So the idea now is having the main powers of Italy -4 "regional states" (republics in civ terms) Milan, Venice, Florence and Papacy - plus the Aragon then-to-become-Spanish controlling Naples and the South and the French pushing from North-West.

At some point I will add to the Events file the main invasion forces from France (Charles VIII claiming the crown of Naples), and after it the reaction from Spain.

Some of other Event driven ideas I'm thinking of include:
1 a swiss pikemen "hiring" model.
2 a Condottieri random appearance. I would like to have strong but very cheap unit to appear somewhere to be hired (bribed) by players, but I'm afraid that would bias the game towards human players.
3 maybe "force"some war.
Cheers all

Mercenaries, skilled officers, and diplomatical treatries are darn difficult to reproduce... I'm trying to solve the same problems for my Austrian Succession War scenario - playtesting something tricky, let's see if it works before to tell anyone.:egypt:

A mercenary hiring model shouldn't be to hard to implement

Basically, stick a immoible barbarian unit with 1 defence point somewhere on the map. Then have an event that when the human player attacks (and kills) this unit, they lose a certain ammount of money and have a mercenary unit created in thier capital city (and the barb unit it recreated). To get around problems with the AI constantly attacking this unit, you could put them in an issolated part of the map (say an island), which has one of your units on it along with the barbarian unit.

Hi people.
Does any of the ones who downloaded the draft have any comment?

Contact me sending a PM or mail me.

A new version will be uploaded soon.

Changes will include:
*more in the events
- some changes in barbarian activity.
- some free units for some civs
- French invasion force of 1494

* some changes in unit stats

* I'll try to work on the Pedia file.

Keep you informed

Since I have some free time this weekend, I'll be able to play around with it.

I'll post my comments next Monday or Tuesday...
