Gold per turn question.

Did C3C make it where other nations won't trade away gold per turn, because I see a lot of strategies saying to sell techs for gold per turn, but I have tried even trading two or three techs for 1gpt and they Foreign adviser says "They will probably be insulted by the deal."

That is due to you having a bad rep. so no gpt can be done. Somewhere along the line you broke deal.

Mmm.... I always thought "insulted" meant that you weren't offering enough and that "they would never accept this deal" meant a broken rep?

I have yet to break any deals, to my knowledge, I will start a new game and try it with that being my first deal.


Also It did say "They would never accept the deal". I just misremembered.

It still didn't work I offered them Bronze Working and 1gpt for 1gpt, but they were annoyed with me, not sure if that makes much of a difference.

if the computer is making no gpt it wont trade any, in my experience at the start of the game the cpu tends to 100% it towards tech so no gpt

I believe if you have a bad trade reputation they'll pay GPT just won't take GPT.

Yes, 'They would never accept such a deal' means there's something that makes the deal impossible, like a broken rep or not enough gpt. And Splunge is right; only the reputation of the party offering someting per turn matters.
The AI starts to have gpt with Currency or a proper government like Republic. Or sometimes a Golden Age can make a difference as well.

I does not matter to me which they said as a 3 techs for gpt turned down is saying either you have a rep issue or they have no gold at all to pay. The later at 1gpt is not common, but I should have mentioned it.

Thank you all, the problem did turn out to be that they didn't have enough gold to pay per turn.

ai almost never give out gpt in early game, but they will once their cities are developed, just wait a bit. with the early techs, best just to hold on to them and trade for noval tech, or lump sum, your gpt deal should start kicking around middle age

On lower levels it will be harder to find civs that have gpt. I was suprised that emperor level didn't provide the windfall I thought it would, until much later in the game.
