Ok this is pretty weird. I have an ATI card (x600) and I am having the same problems (unexplained colors/polygons, crashing, reboots) that most of you other ati card users are having. Today I stumbled upon something pretty strange.
I'm not sure if any of you are familiar with Google Earth, but I'll just assume you are because I'm lazy and I don't feel like explaining. Here's a link if you really have to know: http://earth.google.com/
Anyway, I've had the Google Earth program on my computer for a while and it worked fine. Then I bought civ 4 and installed it and had all of the same problems as you guys. Today, I was bored and loaded up Google Earth. Today, however, it behaved differently: it was doing the same weird stuff as Civ 4! Flickering polygons, unexplained lines/shapes/colors, and finally... CRASH! (followed by reboot). And I mean it when I say it, the program was doing the exact same thing as Civ4.
And now the questions. Are these two things at all related? Did Civ 4 do something to Google Earth, or did Google Earth do something to Civ 4? Or is it something else, like display drivers? (I installed the latest catalyst thing, just like everyone else)
So this is what I'd like to know: is anyone else experiencing similar behavior? If so, did you do the same thing as me? (had google earth run normally before buying civ 4, then had it get messed up.)
I imagine that if some common cause that links the problems in these two programs could be found, it might speed up the release of a patch.
