This is one unusual OCC experience. I do not recall any other like it. With 6 hills, 2 mountains, and few grasslands, my main bottleneck is extra food. Usually I am in a rush to get to Sanitation. In this game I have been putting it off as I cannot grow beyond 12 without transforming my hills, but if I create any Engineers I will starve my city!

Another odd thing is lack of allies. It took me a long time before I managed to get a single ally and I am afraid to ask for gifts because any gift could put my power above my ally and bump my key civ to nonexistent.

I just got done. Very unusual OCC indeed. The Carthaginians had only 2 cities for most of the game, and ended with 4. Romans and Aztecs built plenty of cities. Past midgame I had no chance, whatsoever, to be above either of those two in power ratings. This made it very difficult for me to stay at moderate. I often went to Strong which tripled my tech cost.

The terrain was another unusual factor. I do not think I ever stayed at size 12 for this long in any OCC game. With 6 hills, 2 mountains, and no grassland in my city radius there simply was no food surplus for growth before explosives and refrigeration. Eventually I turned half of my hills and both mountains to plains. With 4 None engineers, three of them from a nearby Roman city, transformation was done at a good speed though.

@ Ali: Have you considered to turn the formerly grassy silk into wheat for more food? I'm not sure if two more citizens (either specialists or working hills allowing another citizen) could make up for the loss of some trade arrows.

I did; but I did not think it is worth it. Besides arrows it was giving me an extra shield that I needed badly. Furthermore, there were not many good spots for the extra citizens to go: hills without mining and mountains are hardly worthwhile.
Part of the reason for my hesitation was also the key civ issue. As it was, I had to struggle to maintain a moderate (lowest possible) power. Growing would have made it that much more difficult. Many a times I delayed deliveries because I knew it would bump me to Strong. At other times I would spend money in what under normal circumstances would be considered unwise, simply to keep my treasury low to maintain my power rating.
 
A bit late to this one, but have now played through pretty quickly to a conquest.

As if often the case my stats are not up to the best in the spoiler, in this case Major Advantage's set. Apart from the Major's greater skill and attention to detail, I guess the early discovery of an advanced tribe helped move that game along more quickly than mine. I did find several tribes, but later on in the game.

Rest of Game

I found the "Will the game end?" aspects of the re-spawning a new challlenge. Up to now it has been pretty clear some time in advance when the end would come and plans could be made accordingly - luxury rate increased and engineers settled are the main things. This time I didn't quite the ending right and could have done a bit better with one more re-spawn. But it was a new situation and that was good.
 
I am almost finished with the game. I guess I was trying for Normal Landing game, but I did not expand very fast. I did pop the hut before founding Berlin.
