i get this error everytime i load the game...

it says it's usable with 1.27f but do i really need to go back to 1.14f?

I don't know how others are faring with the UK version of PTW 1.27f, but for me it has definitely worked quite smoothly when loading GOTM-23. What could have happened is that you downloaded an early version of the UK1.27f - I seem to recall there was a bug or two in its code.

Then again, I'm not a techie! See the Sourboy vs Cracker thread just below, about a supposed GOTM-23 loading error...

I've played this game to the late 1600's with this version. You might have found a conditional error; it seems to work fine though.

game file name is...

gotm23_ptw_open.sav

it errors right when i'm able to see the arab settler

HighlandWarrior,

My guess is that this is a localized problem on your computer that relates to how you upgraded the v1.27 patch. I don't know for sure what it is but we can wander around and look for it if the porcess can be done via PM instead of hear on the sidewalk.

This does not appear to be a general game problem.

I want to try and get us back on track with the general problem solving process here and that process is not to have you feel comfortable opening a personal discussion thread when you have a problem with the game. 95 times out of 100, these probelems are semi-unique persanal setup issues that cannot be solved with a direct one on one dialogue with you at the source of the problem.

When you post a thread in the public forums this also runs the risk of disrupting the game for the other players either by leaking information about the game that should not be disclosed or be stealing away resources from other time critical activities.

If you PM me or one of the other moderators with a description of the problem we will get back with you and try to determine if you have done something in particular that may be causing the SNAFU.
