in MP FFAs, this gets said a lot... but here is the thing... there can only be 1 winner. So a backstab is inevitable! :p

"But yea, there is no backstab in a science or cultural win!" Um... what screen do you see when another player gets that win? That is right, the giant buried statue, reminiscent of the buried Statue of Liberty from the original Planet of the Apes. "Allies" don't make you see that screen!

So, here is the thing... an "alliance" works as long as 2 players have a mutually beneficial relationship. :c5trade: So who can you trust? A player that has more to gain by peace with you than war.... if you become stronger than the common enemy, guess who is the new common enemy. The nature of Civ (1 winner only) creates these conditions... if there was a way to have multiple winners, the dynamics would change.

A little offtopic but I don't like this part of Civ 5 "one against all". I admit I miss a bit Alpha Centauri where (if I remember corectly after so many years) you could reach "ally" status with another Civ and win the game together.
In Civ5 there is no friendship but only enemies or future-enemies :)

I think it is on topic, Alpha Centauri is a "Civ" game. I know there are a lot of people who want to play Civ with "ally" status, I can tell by their comments in the public MP games. KM said teams = allies... or maybe not because you are on the same team and an alliance is not formed.

I agree with your points.

Weak civs should have the possibility to establish a permanent alliance/union (something like the EU), in effect merging their empires into one.

weak civ = weak/bad player

since when do bad players get in advantage to beat good players in games?
U ever heard about chess being played with 1 dude getting queens instead of pawns to have a chance to win?
U ever heard of a bigger goal to for the stronger team in soccer so the bad one is more likly to hit it?

jesus. Haven't changed a bit heh? Straight off to being rude as usual. I will ignore that post, because your opinion is worth nothing to me.

The nature of political realism and/ or liberalism is not your cup of tea.

If you don't want the threat of being back stabbed then don't play FFA's. That is the risk you take in a "free for all" that by nature has no rules other than your ability at in game diplomacy. It this this aspect of FFA's that drove a MP player back in the Civ3 days to create the "CTON" always war style game.....
