Hello again everyone! My comp died shortly after getting Civ4 and I didn't really get a chance to play. Now I have a new comp and am excited to finally get to play this game. I understand there is a new expansion out and that a newer one is slated to come out later this year. So, what does a fellow need to concentrate on to better learn the in's and out's to this ever evolving game? Im interested in playing others either PBeM or in a standard game. I just feel ill be a bit behind and will get totally destroyed, lol.

I look forward to any help or sage advice. Its nice to be back.

One thing I've seen a lot of here: specialization. In former civs, you could pretty much have all cities alike, with maybe a "production" city and a "science" one. Now, it's much more detailed than that. Two new takes are the SE economy and the cottage economy. If you can master the art of specialization, you will go far.

And of course, if you're playing as Rome, build lots of Praetorians!

Careful when attacking as there is collateral damage when in a stack, also artilleries are sucidal now :ar15:

Start learning the ins and outs of religion. If you plan on purchasing the second xpack (which will include a similar concept in corporations), you'll be confident to have the basics down.

Also feel out what type of player you are (i.e. are a warmonger or cultural type, etc.).
