I have played two games of Civ III to completion, both using the Chinese. I have won both, with the second game playing at the second highest difficulty level,(the first being played at Chieftan). I am having problems, though, with corruption and also with using the game editor. I find the online help included with Civ III has not been nearly as effective as this forum.
Can someone please help me by providing instructions with how to start my Civ at a certain position using the editor? Also how do I go about changing the flags in order to reduce corruption per building I add (since that seems to be the best way with dealing with game-induced corruption beyond other Civ game leves.) Thank you very much, I don't want to be at all disappointed with Civ III as compared to Civ II.

thanks

Telling the edit exactly where you want certain civs to start is not currently a feature.

As for the corruption, I don't know.

You can choose where a civilization will start, only not WHICH civilization will start where. So it's totally random.

So on one of the World Map maps the Japanese could start in England. Dumb, isn't it?

Perhaps it will be fixed in a patch at some time, but not currently possible.

As for the corruption, the easiest way of all to lower corruption is use the editor and edit the rules. Choose Open and open civ3mod.bic in your main civ3 folder. Then go to Tools and click Use Default Rules to unselect it.

Choose World Sizes and then select the size map you want to play on. Then just raise the Optimal Number of Cities option to a higher amount of cities, and corruption will decrease that way.

The other way is to choose the Improvements and Wonders tab, select the improvement, then just flag the Reduces Corruption box on that screen for each improvement you want to alter.
