Okay, when I post in the "creaton" forum where I'm supposed to for most things I need to know, I don't get responses. How can that be when there are like 80 people browsing that area? When I post here I get responce right away...most the time the first response is some self elected official telling me where i should have posted my question (not giving me any help of course). But then the following responces usualy get me going in the right direction, all within a matter of minutes! Theres only like 15 or 20 people here! Whats going on? And why won't anyone help me with my cool scenario I started?

disclaimer: This topic is of a "general" nature, therefore belonging in the "general" section. Although the words "creation", "scenario" and "elected official" appear, these words in no way designate the topic of said post. Civilization is a trademark of Infrogames.

Wow, I may have to adapt a version of that disclaimer for my sig...

oh, wiat, scenario, uhm, look a fish! *ducking out the door*

The people (like me) who surf the creation & customization forum are usually looking for something to download. If it doesn't have "New [fill-in-the-graphics-toy]" in the title, we skip it. Even if we accidentally read it, we are unwilling to type more than "Woohoo, great unit!" Surfers here in general discussions are different: we want to show how experienced we are, so we answer right away, at length. One possible (but possibly dangerous) solution is to post in the creation forum, but always choose a subject line of the form:

New [pick one - Leaderhead/Unit/Building]: [Fill in here with something relating to powerful females or scantily clad explosions]

Then ask your question in the body of the post.

Example:

Subject - New unit: Giant Nuclear Death Robot
Body - Why does my game crash when I install the panda bear rock thrower?

The replies will be short - similar to, "Woohoo, did you check your pediaicons.txt?", but eventually, due to the number of people who read the post, you may get a full answer.

Do not do this in the unit creation forum, or zulu will get you :)

Serious answer - when I enter the Customization forum I jump directly to the sub-forums. Most of the time I completely forget that there's a general forum down there...

I never noticed a general forum down there unitl all the people in the completed scenario section freeked out when I made a post with a question about the civ editor. Lots of rules on this sites forums! I mean like sorry guys, ya know? I believe Bill Shakespeare once said "To error is human, so chill out."

People probably purposefully ignore any threads made by you because they know they're not going to get any personal gain from reading your threads in the creation forum.

...was that too harsh?

Mr. Do, that wasn't harsh it just clearly defines you as a shallow selfish human being. Yes, that may be true for you, but some people enjoy helping others. One day when I know more and a new guy comes, I will help him and not be a jerk. I'm a regular member on other forums and theres always a few like you that treat the new people all crappy cause they think they are soooo smart, but I help them with what they need cause I realize that I wasn't always an expert in that area.

I was giving a reason as to why others might not post in your threads. If I thought I was too good to post in your threads, I wouldn't have reponded to this or any other of your threads, would I?

Your response clearly defines you as someone who cannot cope with even the possibility of criticism. Get some thicker skin. If you make a thread asking why no-one replies to threads you make in one area then what do you expect, praise?

Hmm, I wasn't clear before. Ignore Trolls - never respond, treat them like the invisible, meaningless entities they are. They are generally decent writers and debaters who live to make people angry, instigating constant anonymous fights where they don't have to face the folks they are berrating. There is never, in any way, any chance of making a point, they never actually believe anything they are saying. The moment you respond, they get a happy on. I repeat, Ignore Trolls.
