Google has a program called Alpha Zero, which if you don't know, programmed itself to play world champion level chess in just 4 hours given only the rules of the game to start. So, great AI is just a phone call away!
Teach Alpha Zero to play Civ6 and just a few hours later you have an AI 10 times better than humans have produced for this game so far. You could also probably use it to hunt down bugs and help with game balance.

Alpha Zero had beaten the greatest human player in Go as well and Go is a much more mathematically complex game than chess, despite Go having extremely simple rules.

I hope they do this,the AI from this game is pretty horible,settles at hudreds of km away,no good army,maj. outdated units,no strategy and always declares war on me even if they are on other continent.I installed AI+ and it improved the AI.Now it isnt so stupid and make the game more fun.

This is a philosophical question.

Apparently AI has the potential to train itself (after try and fail for millions of iterations) into a beast that will just beat you 10 times of 10 using some sort of cold blooded META strategy executed with the precision of brain surgery, not forgetting every possible micromanagement item and every possible abuse.

Does not sound like fun at all.

And then we would need to stupidize it a bit to have even a chance for win
