Hi all,

just wanted to inform you all about some great maps I plan on using for my first milking attempts ever.

Settings:
Chieftan
Archipelago (60% water)
Huge
8 AI

Civ Maya (2 of em are Babylon though)
Just started and checked 4000 BC with Mapstat

I'll play each one of em till I know about the surroundings enough if it's any good to try. (remember I have no milking experience whatsoever)

I have 12 starts ranging from average to great and here are the domination limits:
1) 4361
2) 4424
3) 4432
4) 4443
5) 4450
6) 4453
7) 4456
8) 4459
9) 4464
10) 4498
11) 4501
12) 4502

I'll try to play some of them the coming weekend and post some screenies.

(PS any milking tips are welcome)
(Another big disadvantage I have is that I don't know how to micromanage efficiently, so tips on that topic are also welcome)

If it were me I would play all of them to a 1000 BC save then reevaluate them. Depending on how fast you play it can take from 1 to 2.5 hours each. I would also begin with the worst starts first because this process will be a great learning experience and you will be playing better after 3 or 4 starts.

Good Luck!

I dont know how dangerous this is, you can waste mines doing it this way, so take it with a pinch of salt but if its efficency you want...

Dont need to check every city every turn. Just check them when the population either goes up or down. Compared to checkeing every turn this will reduce the number of times you look at each city by a factor of between about 5-10 and improve effeciency.

The difficulty is keeping tabs on which cities pop are moving. This isnt a problem in the very early game though. Checking when they move down is always easy - just look at every city that builds a worker or settler. Its the going up ones that annoy me.

Okay, here's the first one I'll try:

The Maya with a domination limit of 4361

I'll get back on this once I reached 1000 BC

[edit] apparently something went wrong but I don't know what [/edit]

It definitely is the right link, if you copy it and paste it in your browser, you'll see the image. Perhaps something is wrong with the uploads folder?

It just won't work
not even with my own webspace.

Does anybody have a clue as to what may be the problem?

I think it's probably the length of the URL is too long. Not sure what the limit is if there is one. Otherwise it might be the ( ) characters in the filename.

Try to keep the pictures you link to at 800 width or less too. That will help keep the forum displaying right for most people, without having to sidescroll to read posts and view images.

edited - not relevant, Aeson beat me to it :)

Thanks a lot. It must have been the ( ) that caused the picture not to show properly.

PS I'll get back to this thread after reaching around 1000 BC
