Hold The Sugar! Need a little advice please.

I'm inundated with sugar production and can't seem to get it shipped out fast enough. Colonies keep complaining it's losing stuff due to lack of storage but I am putting in warehouses and wagon trains as fast as I can. I don't have any of my colonies programmed to emphasize sugar and keep telling them to export it but gosh, enough already. What to do please?
Oh and I started my colonies in the Carribean which may be why they are growing so much of the stuff and in case it is not glaringly obvious I am very new to this game. thanks.

Hire some distillers to turn your sugar into rum then trade it to the locals or ship it to Europe and sell it. You can also sell the sugar there but you don't get a very good price.

Ah, thank you. I was trying to sell it in Europe and didn't realize that wasn't good business. It didn't help that generous natives kept gifting it to my settlements, all very kind and everything but I already had more than I needed. lol.
oh, gee thanks, more sugar. why don't you just give me socks for Christmas, cuz' I need more of those too.
