Scott P.
Chieftain
I just received Civ II this past week (from Amazon.com Marketplace for, like, $9 including shipping).
So I finally tried it this weekend. I should have read the manual!
My first shot was a Roman Empire. I "retired" in AD 1993 under heavy fire from a rabid Mongol horde. They had aircraft and I was defending with riflemen and one unit of marines.
I suppose if I had read the manual I would have learned that just because my wise men have discovered a new technology doesn't mean I actually HAVE the things produced by that technology.
And I guess my advisors are all crack addicts because no one bothered to suggest I build armor units, etc. Also, never figured out how to increase my food supply until after my Empire fell.
RESULT: 0 points and known in history as Caesar Scott the Worthless!
So my second attempt is an Aztec Empire. I am at about 100 AD and progressing nicely. So far the key is to send out more settlers, build more villages, and explore other continents.
