After he/she win the 1st. battle? At least the country's next 20 turns is insured to be safe and great. Now the problem is how to make sure the great leaders will appear in the "right" time :?

you introduce a new concept but does not explain the benefit of adopting it...

Here are some:
1) easy to implement/make the change.
Still be trigerred by winning a combat. SO should be easy to make the change in the programming aspect.
2) Like I said, the next 20 turns of Golden Age is insured by the Great Leader, because the Great Leader is has very big influence over the game. The funny situation of American's F-15 vs Zulu landing won't happen. Even American is a weaker force then, with the faster building ability and the GL's unlimited grouping ability, it will get big enough army soon.
3) You have better control over when do you begin the GA.
4) I guess Firaxis implemented GA as the way it is because they want the Golden Age happened roughly corresponding to the history of that CIV. GL triggering will help them to keep it. Therefore it's more realistic that they might use it... But hey, I never be lucky enough to win a lotto or so. So I just speak out my thought.

5) Actually, when I got the idea when I proposed the NOBLE leader implement under Monarchy. GL will help you with a early Republic, which could be true Golden Age.

Are they good enough reasons?

Since I find the trigger nonsense, any option with a little bit of "brains" is welcomed

The problem with this trigger is:
You still need to win a battle... and therefore start a war.
You need to fight more, since only a copple of times a won battle will result in a Great Leader.

I´d like to see a non war-related trigger, like the availability of the special unit, or the realisation of a great Wonder in a certain time-period, depending on the civ in question.
even a fixed time frame for golden ages is preferable above the winning a battle-thing.

Yes, I agree that a Wonder could be a good trigger of Golden Age. It's better than you have to start a war for GA.

Or every time you complete a wonder you get an increasing % chance to have a golden age, say 20% so on the fifth wonder it is guarenteed you have your GA. Of course to make things fair for the AI they might get a higher % chance- as by about the industrial age, I'm building 'em ALL!

Hey, that's a great idea! It would give more depth and variety to how one chooses to play the game, like the bloodlust or SS option.

You could also have it 'random,' so you don't know right at first.

Good thinking, Hippo!
