Hi Civ Fanatics,

I must admit that I am big fan of Lain and i have unconsciously adopted his philosophy to always aim for a domination victory no matter what leader and civ I am playing. It works out well but now I am also tempted to conquer the whole world at least once.
As I have never done that before, I wonder ....

- if any vassaling would spoil that type of victory forever? Or is there a chance to get rid of a vassal later?
- if the AI's behave differently when I mark "Conquest" as the only victory condition?
- how early I should begin to raze my opponents? I always play on IMM, and sometimes one neighbour grows incredibly big and strong if I wait too long..

THanks for your hints

cool, I have already played that map, but i managed somehow to spoil a perfect position with orcaling construction....... but, it seems that Elite didn't go for conquest but for domination. Doesn't conquest mean to eliminate everyone?

In order to achieve a conquest victory, you need to either destroy or vassal all opponents.

It would certainly make things easier for the player, since AI culture victories are no longer a threat. So I would prefer to leave all conditions open and just restrict myself.

Depends on the available land of course. But if I play let's say Egypt on IMM and discover horses nearby, I'd probably consider it a waste not to pay somebody a visit with War Chariots regardless of my land.
THanks for your hints

I see... you can also vassal all your opponents.... i kept on believing that you have to raze them completely... so it will be probably a bit of an art to achieve conquest before you have reached the domination level

Oh - I see, you mean Kill all AI as DEAD (I think thats a slightly different definition of Conquest)

yeah, but vassaling everyone should be hard enough. I tend to lose patience in the end of my games and am always happy when I have finally reached the land percentage for domination.

Conquest can be easier than domination at times. Once you get big and powerful the AI capitulate easier. Taking vassals saves time and troops.

It's usually necessary to capture a decent number of cities from your first 1-2 targets to get your production base up, but after that you can vassal a lot more and gift unwanted cities back after wars end.
