How to modify the tech tree?

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a tute on how to modify the technology tree. For example, how to add a new technology node and associated it with a new unit/building/civic etc.

These were both very helpful to me, but I still had to do a lot of trial and error before I got everything working.
