i cannot realize to destroy a city of mine.
The tip of hurrying a settler doesn't work.
I don't want to permict to other civs to conquer it.
any suggestions?
thanks a lot

I've successfully got rid of a city by starving it out. (Turn everyone into an entertainer and also build a settler at the same time). I worked on a city I captured when I realied that it would be more efficient to place a city 2 squares away.

It's tougher to do, but

1) Starve the city to less than 3
2) Make it's growth 0
3) Build a settler
4) When the settler is built, a message will prompt you if you wish to disband the city

I tend to think this is a dumb thing to do.... all cities help with culture in the long run (give it a library and you'll get an additional +3 culture a turn).

It's not so dumb to starve out and move cities. In my current game I had an Egyptian settler unit moving into one of my last good spots that I had not envoloped by my culture yet and my settler was about two turns behind him in reaching the prime location or so it was (tip of a penninsula that had 3 whales on it). Rather than let him to colonize it I went into a fine dance routine with my workers and warriors cutting hime off for a few turns so i could get my settler into position. Problem was, he slipped by me and got to be one step ahead of me so i ploped down my settler right behind him to envolp the area in my borders. He left after that and all i had to do was starve out the city when it got too 2 population and reposition it three squares away. I know i probably could have taken the city by culture eventually, but them pesky Egyptions seem to want to gobble up every square inch of the map, even if it means behind enemy lines and with 99% corruption.
