How to shoot down enemy planes?

Well, since you cant really besiege a city with anything else than bombers you need that damn air superiority. Ok, just build a lot of jetfighters. But how do you tell them to take out those anoying enemy fighters? Waiting and hoping that they crash into your airdefence isn't quite efective, so what do you do?

all intercept does is get your plain to fly around the square it was on and attempts to intecept any planes that fly into it's square.

I thought thats what he wanted, apparently I misread. If you want to get past the opponents fighters that are set on intercept mode then send suicide planes first. The intercept fighters can only intercept once per turn afaik.

that's the way I do it, but it's a bit too expensive. That ugly enemy fighter intercepts even on squares a bit further away from its city. If there at least weren't those very strange chances... The enemy has one plane guarding and it always shoots down my stealthbombers, I have 10 fighters guarding and they can't even intercept a simple fighter...

Isn't there at least a way to tell the planes to guard a square other than the city they're stationed in?

I'm pretty sure that when you tell a plane to intercept... it will have a chance to intersept any aircraft that flies within it's flight range... not just the square they are on.
In fact, they even have a chance to intercept other planes that are intercepting your bombers... It's happened to me and it looks really cool

My suggestion would be to station fighters in the city nearest to the city you are bombing. Then when the enemies fighters intercept your bombers there is a chance that your fighters will intercept there fighters.
