I am building this PC...

I like the X800XL better.
Well, for one thing, for the price of a X800XL, I can get almost 2 6600 GTs to set up an SLI.

For another, I don't play FPS, so an average card will do for me. ;)

I am not even sure if I want to get an overclocked card. Maybe I will get a 'normal' card instead, like the Asus one.

Venice is very good for overclocking. buy a good fan and you can easily get it to run at least 2.4 ghz, that's about $200 worth of saving.

Shld I get a new fan and cooler for my CPU, or can I stick to the one that comes with the chip?

I'm not overclocking, but I want low noise level...

If you want it quiet, you should buy a fan, because the one that comes with the chip is loud. Some people say putting a little cover on top of the CPU area also reduce the noise, like what Dell does.

But I didn't hang about so closely as to be able to discern the noise level, being uninterested in upgrading at that time. :p

You don't need to worry about the CPU fan making noise, it's the 6600GT you need to worry about. Mine is like a hoover, but I don't notice because I've got my headphones on most of the time. It's a very good card though.

My friend suggested to me to get the just-arrived X800GT, which seems to be better than the 6600GT in some ways, for much the same price... :hmm: I am now confused... :ack:

Certainly not; though I would want my setup to be able to play the upcoming Elder Scrolls IV game.

Currently I am trying to playing Neverwinter Nights, but on my present PC the 3D portion simply won't kick off (and I am too lazy to figure out why). :ack:

Are you sure you don't wanna go with an 6800GT? They dropped a lot in price recently.
Still costs double or more the price of a 6600GT here, in Singapore... :(
