I'm playing the RAR mod, and was negotiating with my backward Korean neighbors when this screenie came up. Not how many techs I'm up on them.

I have 11 more techs than them and they're somehow on my level!

Well, it's a modpack. I'm not sure of the effect it would have of adding/deleting techs. But, I think they rarely do that.

Why don't they have a group for technology? They clearly have atleast one tech you don't have.

I'd have to agree with Chieftess, it looks like a mod pack. I don't recognize most of those techs. The code probably got messed up somewhere along the line.

It's Rise and Rule. Still funny though. Probably DQ'ed from SOTD or POTD because its a mod.

In the RaR mod, that is not a tremendous tech lead. Also, I do not know how the advisors choose what to say. While it may be by number of techs, it could also be the accumulated tech-COST difference, which would be much less in RaR (there are MANY more techs-per-age in RaR).

As someone who plays RaR a lot, I don't think that's a massive tech lead. Since in RaR most techs take two or three turns to learn, having 11 techs another civ doesn't have is at most a 33 turn lead. If you get involved in a war and scale back on research, you can lose that lead quite quickly.

Also, the very same happens in unmodded as well. The Tech advisor is simply as much an idiot as the military advisor; and the cultural advisor...."We should build a Colosseum in all or cities!"

The classical situation is an AI with Free Artistry, Nationalism/ Comunism/Fascism as only IA techs. And you just learned AT from the ToE...yes, they are as advanced as we are .
