I don't understand the AI

As people have already said, the 4/6 move 2 blitzing Archers are from the Hippus worldspell (up from 3/5 1 move). Combat 1 and Commando are from Aggressive and Raiders which are Tasunke's traits.

With regards to your original question about the difficulty bonuses I got curious so I did some research. The main differences at Monarch from the start seem to be that the AI gets an additional defending unit at the start (warrior, scout?) and the Ancient Chants tech. Some other differences are they start with 2 free XP (up from 1 at Prince), and unitcost is 90% rather than 95% at Prince (Noble is 100% i.e. same as player). One thing to note assuming I am reading this correctly is the AI gets a 25% bonus against barbarians at all difficulty levels - so turning off raging barbarians could stop the AI getting so many promotions from defeating them.

Against the Hippus it just seems like you got an unlucky start near an aggressive AI with a good rushing worldspell. I'm not a good enough player to give advice on that :(
 
I'm pretty sure that there are other bonuses. I think these include production and research bonsues, and free XP's.
