image files .tga

I took a screen shot ingame. After the game was done, I looked for it, and there is a file called HiResScreenShot0001.tga. What kind of file is a tga and how do I open it?

Its a picture file and I had no idea Civ 4 would save it in that format, all mine are JPEGs
Theres some info on them here if your interested, I don't know anything about that kind of thing
I do know they can be opened with Irfanview and Photoshop though.

It's a 35 MB file too. I'm not sure why it the game took it in this format. The rest of my screenshots are in .jpg format.
