Hi,

Up until now I've organized my photos by putting them in directories. This works well if all photos belong to one particular event, vacation or whatever. This has however put me in a bit of a problem with the pictures taken with my mobile phone. More often than not they're just random pictures capturing some drunken fun, a nice scene I happen to pass by or something of the sort. This makes organizing them in folders pretty hard, as for a lot of pictures there is no single description that links them to other pictures, but more than one. I thought tagging them would be a nice way around that (as one file could have more than one tag).

I've tried ImageWalker, but the tagging interface was quite weird. There's no list of tags (like in Flickr), which is essential for pleasant browsing I think. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using Windows XP by the way.

I use a little program called Firehand Ember that I started with years ago and really like. I have over 60,000 pics and it works well for viewing, renaming, moving and sorting. And a couple basic editing features.

I know this going to sound weird, but Windows Live Photo Gallery actually looks quite nice... There must be a catch somewhere.

The main reason not to use Live is to prevent Microsoft from eventually controlling all information. Adobe Elements is good.

Is it free though? Also, I sort of wonder what possible use Microsoft could have in it's diabolical plan to dominate world for my drunken pictures.

Information is power :p

All hail the random photograph superpower!

Seriously though: I do sort of spread my online apps. Flickr for photos, MSN for e-mail, Google for searching, and Box.net for other storage things. It just feels better not to put all your stuff into one corporation's hands.

Everyone knows that they fill up the "crippled versions" of new OS's with such pictures, slowing them down and allowing M$ to sell more expensive, but useful, versions, bringing them even closer to controlling all money on Earth.
