hahaha, when I found out I couldn't insert a screenshot of my error message I decided to create my own haha.

Anyways anybody got any ideas as to what is the problem?

Oh yeah I am only bothering you guys with this because I can't find were to find professional support. The Civ 3 website Is kinda a load of crap because its support page is compiled of two Q&A questions about patches and no place to email in problems or post them

hath nobody a whim of the identity of the evils that corrupt my computer?!?

ok, I didn't do anything to the disk and it went away, here is the real problem

F:\Sounds\Menu\Menu1 has something wrong with it. I can forgo its installation by doing a minimal instalation but then the main menu doesn't appear after the opening cinamatic

Well, there should be nothing wrong with it at all. 99.9% of people will install without any problems, and since you paid for it, you should expect to install the game without any errors as well. Take the disk back to where you bought it from and make your case, cause you have a defective product. (unless you don't mind not having a main menu)

Of course, thats what I would do, unless someone else out there knows how to prevent the error from rearing its ugly head.

can you do that even if the game is years old and missing its original casing?

Haha, NOW we have a problem. :crazyeye:

No, you probably can't. But Civ3 is so cheap now, you can buy Civ3 Complete for $10-$20 online ($17.99 at amazon.com), or you can find it lying around store shelves sometimes. I saw a copy for $9.99 once.

And if you say the game is years old and without a case, I can safely assume that the CD's are a little scratched up?

I suppose it is a bit worn out, now does anyone know where to get Nemesis of the Roman Empire and Stronghold 2, same problem I have pinpointed 1 specific file that is corrupt  Why am I so attracted to old games? I am going to make like 3 backups of each and store them in some moisture free vacuum chamber to insure I can always play these amazing games

PS I have a couple hundred extra plastic cases because I have a habit of always losing the original

Hey, you're not the only one who plays old games. I spend enough time playing Dune II and Scorched Earth.

Making backups is a good idea, the moisture free vacuum chamber is a little extra though :p

Have you tried cleaning the disks? You can also make a copy of your original and try installing from the copy. It works for me sometimes, though not always.

Can I get the original Civ 3, Here is what I think of the updated versions

:ar15::sniper::ar15::hammer2::badcomp:

Die Die Die!!! Take your Zues's Temple and DIE!

If you install Complete, you can still run just Civ3. You go into the install folder, and there should be a Civilization3.exe file.
