I have tried to install Fall from Heaven 2 about 3 times and i always get the same eror:

The instruction at "0x01f84070" referenced memory at "0x00000063". The memory could not be "read".

Click OK to terminate the program.
Click cancel to debug the program.

Help! I have tried everything, reinstalling, installing in different places. The debug program doesn't work.

When does that error message occur? (For example, does it occur immediately after launching the installer, or after file extraction begins, or at what other point in the process?)

What operating system (XP, Vista, Win7, et c.) are you using?

What version of Civ4 do you have?

What is the filename/file size/date of the installer you are using?

Everything installs fine
I assume by "everything" you mean Civ 4 Complete and the Civ 4 v3.19 patch. You need to install the game and then patch the game in order for FfH2 to run correctly.

when i open the file the error comes up.
I assume by "the file" you mean "FallfromHeaven2041d.exe", which is the installer for FfH2. I haven't seen that error before myself, but I think the most likely cause is that the file is corrupted. You should delete the installer (FallfromHeaven2041d.exe) that you have, redownload it, and try again. I suggest following the steps given in my installation guide under the section Recovering from a failed installation attempt, just to be sure that the installation attempt goes smoothly.

-------------

If either of those assumptions I've made are incorrect, then let me know because that could change the advice that I would give. Also, if my advice doesn't solve the problem then let me know and I'll try to give further assistance.

When i say everything installs fine, i mean the fall from heaven download.
When i say the file, yes that is what i mean. The funny thing is though, the file doesn't have that name, it is just called "Fall from Heaven 2" Is this a problem?

By default, Windows hides file extensions - so you may not see the ".exe" at the end.

Depending on how you download the file, you may have the option to rename the file before you download it. If you do, and you chose to rename it, then that name might be okay. If you didn't rename the file yourself, however, then it should be called "FallFromHeaven2041d.exe" (without the ".exe" if extensions are hidden). If the file you have isn't called that, then I would delete it and redownload the file.

My suggestion to you is that you follow my installation guide. It will walk you through the entire installation process step-by-step, and if something goes wrong then it will be easier for me to know what the problem might be (because you can tell me at which specific step the problem occurred).

Sorry for my lack of detailed posts, i have redone this one.
This morning i began to install Fall from Heaven 2. When i got home, the installer, (The guide that takes you through the installation process.) was on the screen. I completed the installation without a problem and then a window came up and said, "Fall from Heaven is locating Beyond the Sword. Click to locate it yourself." I clicked and chose Beyond the Sword, an error message appeared and said, "The file you selected has a faulty MOD file." Before the error message the Fall from Heaven file's symbol changed to the BtS symbol, the coin.

I'll need you to be much more specific if I'm going to be able to help you. Instead of "I installed it" please say exactly what you were installing. Instead of partially quoted messages please give the exact quote. If you encounter an error or a message you don't understand then it would help to either write down the exact message or take a screenshot. Also, please indicate which step of my installation guide you were at when the error or message in question appeared.

When you install FfH2, a shortcut is placed on your desktop. This shortcut (named "Fall from Heaven 2") is intended to allow you to start FfH2 directly, instead of needing to first launch Civ 4 - but it does not work in certain situations. Your shortcut isn't working, but you should still be able to play FfH2 by following these steps:

1) Start Civ 4
2) At the main menu, choose "ADVANCED"
3) At the next menu, choose "LOAD A MOD"
4) Select "Fall from Heaven 2" from the list of mods
5) Click "OK" (in the lower-right).

This will load FfH2, and you should then be able to play if FfH2 is installed correctly. If "Fall from Heaven 2" is not in the list of mods, or if Civ crashes after you select it and click "OK" then the installation was not completed correctly. If you are able to play the mod then you will need to repeat this process each time you want to play, unless you fix the shortcut (see below).

-------------

If you want to get the shortcut working correctly then you'll need to know the path to your installation of Civ 4.

1) Right-click on the shortcut and click "Properties"
2) Find the "Target:" line and type this (include the quotes, and replace [path] with the path to your installation of Civ 4):
Code:
"[path]\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" mod=\Fall from Heaven 2
3) Find the "Start in:" line and type this (include the quotes, and replace [path] with the path to your installation of Civ 4):
Code:
"[path]\Mods"
4) Click "OK".

If the mod is installed correctly and you have used the correct path to Civ 4 then the shortcut should now work, and will launch FfH2 directly.
