Is there any way to disable Armageddon? I’m thinking of purchasing this game but that feature is kind of troublesome.

umm.. also, I recall playing this game with my friend a while back. In the 'Conquer the World' game, is there anyway to disable that whole concept that taking over the capitol qualifies as the entire civilization? Or did the expansion pack fix that?

Well, yes, there is a way to disable Armageddon, but you probably wouln't want to... otherwise the game would just boil down into a barrage of nukes. As for the capital thing, think about it. If Washington D.C. got destroyed, what would happen to the U.S.? The government would be annihilated, commerce would be lost, and it would pretty much collapse eventually.

There are a couple ways to disable Armageddon in RoN. BHG has a downloadable script (it says “multiplayer script” but it works for single-player, too) that removes nukes from the game altogether; no nukes – no Armageddon.

The second way is to make a small edit in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Rise of Nations\Thrones and Patriots\data\rules.xml file. You can do that easily enough using Notepad or WordPad. If you would like precise instructions, let me know and I'll dig them up.

On the matter of capitals in Conquer the World, no patch does what you're asking. It may be possible to modify the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Rise of Nations\Thrones and Patriots\conquest\CTW_World_Map_01.xml file to accomplish that, but I don't know. (I could give it a try...)
