Just finished a game and lost. I was aiming for a diplo victory. I had saved France from being destroyed and carried them for years giving them tech, luxuries and strategic resources. There were 5 civs, 2 of them had only one city apiece. I decided to take out India, but did not remember they had a MP with France. I attack India, France declares war and I take the rep hit for having a RoP and troops in France. After that the French hated me and would not make deals least of all a RoP. I am pretty sure they wouldnt have voted for my had I built the UN. So I took them out. After that I tried to bludgeon the Zulus (last civ) through war and my civ went into anarchy since the war lasted too long. Then I get the message 20 turns left and I am so close but so far. I just couldnt get it done.
I led with 51% of world area, had 58% of world population. I was 712 points behind in score. No one had built any spaceship parts. No one was close to a Wonders victory and the Diplomatic option was off the table. I had just taken two cities on their continent captured their only rubber resource, but all of it was too late. Oh, I wasted 14 turns in the end by letting my civ go into anarchy twice in the last years of the game.
