So as we all know the late game of basically all Civs gets fairly boring. The only problem I have with Gods and Kings right now is the tedious late game. I had tons of fun up until roughly 1900AD. Brave New World is supposed to spice up that late game in the same way corporations and espionage did with beyond the sword. Civ 4 suffered the same issue until beyond the sword came out then I felt like there was sufficient activity throughout the entire game. Do you guys think the new culture, ideology, and world congress system will liven up that end game enough?

Personally, I think it will. All of these systems combined really add quite a bit of depth and activity to the late game. What I loved about corporations was it was a new thing to found and spread and you could see the huge effect it had. It just added another thing to do. I feel and hope that Brave New World does this and then some. Thoughts?

CiV's main problem for me, is that the point where I know I've won and the point where I get the victory screen is many hours of game play apart. The AI is horrible easy to predict that you're 100% sure that nothing will surprise and challenge you.

The fact that it takes one "3 ranged" ranged unit and a horse to ensure that you will take the AI's cities, makes it incredibly boring to work through all the turns until those two units finish the job and even if I'm not aiming for domination. The fact I know that I at any time can simply kill the AI with war, makes me feel like I'm giving myself an enforced handicap just to avoid winning.

I'm sure it will be fun to explorer the changes, but at MaDjinn pointed out in his play video, war is the counter to the new features.

Well, war could really counter anything. For instance, in my current game Siam is getting a tad powerful and it seems clear that they're heading for the science victory. All I'd really have to do is invade them and knock them off of their pedestal. Usually the main problem is yes, there is a point that you reach where you are for sure going to win and then it becomes an awful crawl to receive that win. My hope is that BNW will just spice up that late game. Culture won't be so boring anymore. I always found culture to be the most boring victory type. Overall though, I really like Civ 5 now except for the end game and with BNW specifically targeting the end game I hope their new features will be enough.

It actually looks like it will spice things up. It looks like the early game is about building a foundation, but the late game involves starting over again on the specific task of winning (the only exception is domination, which can happen mostly any time). I think that'll add enough things to do late in the game that victory isn't certain.

Agreed. I saw a comment from someone on a youtube video who said ideologies were lame and that they're effects are boring. I explained how game changing ideologies were. Say you are going for a specific victory type and you pick the ideology that will help you get there. Unfortunately, the most powerful ideology is not the one you picked. Eventually, their tourism presses so hard on you that you are forced to change, completely altering your victory plans.

I have confidence that this will add enough content to fully flesh the end game and make it different than the beginning and exciting.
