As I understand it, using a Planet Buster evokes all the other factions to go to war with you. How long do they stay in Vendetta mode? Do they ever "get over it" and open themselves to more friendly diplomacy (if they are not the target of your Planet Buster)? Do they still go to war if the UN charter is repealed?

They can get over it, maybe truce and even end up as pact bros. I had one with Morgan once. (I was Lal)

He was the one that made the offering steps of peace/pact btw, you will always be rejected in such offerings because your integrity will be wicked. <- That's the key thing, while the vendetta may stop you will always be looked on as scum of planet.

Is there any way to increase your integrity rating (ie: time served) or once a scum always a scum? The reason I ask is that the current game I am playing, I am the Peacekeepers sharing a continent with the Spartans. I declared vendetta on University because it was the only way to survive as the Santiago persuaded (demanded) it to end the war that I wasn't doing well in against her.

I guess all you can do is try to be a nice guy and find out if it increases. I don't know myself. :)

Do all atrocities bring one down to "Wicked" (not that I'm claiming I'm not) or just major ones like Planet Busting? Or is it only when known by the other factions. I seem to remember playing my last game as Spartans and being surprised that Yang accused me of atrocities against his people when I had nerve stapled (I was having a bad day and didn't feel like dealing with drones) citizens of bases that I had taken from him years earlier. All the other factions seemed to be in the dark as my atrocities happened during a communication blackout (funny how that happens). But if my memory serves, my integrity rating never wavered from "Noble".
Would the other factions know who set off a Planet Buster during a communication blackout? "Hey, I don't remember there being a lake there..."

I've only ever used the buster, I've never tried using nerve gas or the stapling so couldn't comment.

About Yang, either he has probed data at you or like...he's close by..I dunno.

I also too wondered about the communication blackout. I have a suspicion it won't matter and they will vendetta anyway. This is the future remember, they probably would have sensed such siesmic acticivty as well as a large release of energy!

Once I used nerve gas against the Gaians (I was feeling particularly ruthless) but it was only during a communication blackout (funny how coincidental that is) and the other factions didn't say a thing...but boy, Diedre never forgave me...ever. Even when I won by being elected Supreme Leader by all the others, she continued her vendetta against me. A woman scorned....

As it pertains to PBing during communications blackout: I just tried it. I smacked Marr with a Quantum PB and wiped out 3 of his cities (one being his capitol) and the last two guys who weren't at war with me declared vendetta. So obviously, even with a communications blackout, PBing still screws you over.

I just thought of a question.

If a CPU faction nails you with a Buster, will the other Factions be more sympathetic to you if you used one in return?

No, anyone using a Planet Buster is a bad person. It's damaging Planet.

Be nice to have every faction use it so everyone is vendetta-ing against everyone else!

I believe that the only time one can use a Planet Buster safely, is when you are already elected Supreme Leader (Diplomatic victory) and one of the other factions refuses to accept that decision (perhaps due to "ahem" questionable integrity practices against them in the past). Then if you use a Planet Buster to eradicate that errant faction, the others are already commited to you.
In a past game, I thought the other factions would be sympathetic toward my retaliating likewise to a PB attack on my faction (surprisingly it was launched by the Peacekeepers) but they were not very supportive, turning on me like a pit bull on an a abusive trainer wearing a steak necklace.

Repeal the UN Charter. Then you can go nuts. (So will they)
