Noob to FFH2 here, but their "turn forests into treants ability" means they can auto-kill one or two of her neighbors by turn 100 on epic with barely any military investment (mostly just warriors to stay alive). Get the Creative leader, go up to 3 cities (surrounded by forests) near the opponents' borders and then activate the ability.

Works only once but once you take their cities and pick up Education (for your crashing economy) you're in a strong position for the rest of the game.

Did it on Emperor (but with increasing Difficulty option every 50 turns so it goes up to Deity by turn 100)

The Ljosalfar world spell is best used early game because

1) Treants aren't as powerful relative to later units,
2) The loss of Forests isn't as bad as the loss of Ancient Forests, and
3) Losing all of your Ancient Forests and Forests is terribad when you have lots of high-population cities dependent on Guardian of Nature for happiness.

Early on, March of Trees can be held in reserve as a "panic button" so that you don't need to build up a big military, but you should use it by the time you switch to GoN. Fellowship of Leaves and Temples of Leaves allows for less costly but less reliable and far less numerous Treant defenders later on.
