Loading Troubles

I just got Civ. IV, I installed it once... and I was loading it up and it was getting to the screen where the voice sais "Click Ok"... but the screen was completely blue... I figured no big deal.. hit enter it kicked me to the spinning world screen... and no text or buttons popped up... just the music and spinning world background.... So I was like... alright, has to be a bug... reinstalled... same thing happened! Has anyone experienced this or may know how to fix it?

download the patch 1.09 then try again.

i have the same prob. been worken at it for days.the first patch did nothing.
i will find the other one and try that too.........but
at least i found some one that has the same prob.
if i poke around at the world screen i can get into the game,but have no idea where im at. no icons. since we can see the menu to start the game,makes no sence why we cant see it after that.
i have a nvidia ge force fx 5950 ultra vid. card
checked the log files,and every thing happens as it should.a buddy of mine has the game also,so i can compare files. realy lost at this point.
i can see nothing wrong
