This is so basic, I'm almost ashamed to ask this but I need to make better use of this Free Peak I have on the 'other' capital.

What do you guys look for when you first establish an embassy and get that look at the capital?

I always look at what defenders are there and what they are working on {Great they won't get those pyramids} but I'm sure, that with a more intelligent use of the screen, I could learn much more than I do now.

What information tells you What about the Civ?

What do you infer from the info?

What specifically do you learn that I am missing?

Need instruction to make this work for me and not just be an interuption in my game.

One thing I check is how many of each resource they have, and how many of each luxury. The main thing, though, is checking which wonder they are building and how long it will take.

You can also see:
  • Their government; e.g. when they're a democracy and you're in communism, it sometimes makes sense to declare war without even attacking them, just to make their people unhappy
  • Their resources, if you haven't discovered their entire area yet; if you have, then you can see if they import/export resources
  • Their city improvements; e.g. when you want to attack a city, it's good to know if it has barracks. And garrison, of course.
  • The culture, to find out if the city might flip to you or the border might move
  • Their luxuries + science rate
  • Happiness - maybe you can cause civil disorder by cutting off the supply of a luxury

That is the stuff I wanted to know. I knew there was information I wasn't seeing even though it is in my face-- so to speak.
