I think that would be against Copyright rules, but I won't tell anyone.

I dont think its against anything
its between me and codder
he will make mod which is very legal
but I will pay for his hard work
its not a trade agreemnet or what so ever
its not going to be a profitable mod either

Modding isn't against the rules (of course), it's selling mods. I don't know if it's copyright infringement, EULA violation, or against the SSA (Steam Subscriber Agreement). Something regarding "derivative content." I'm sure someone around here can find it if I don't.

Basically, as I understand it, you can't make money from anything you change or do with their game. I'll keep looking around to find the exact wording for ya.

Yes but as someone who works with the law I can tell you it is completely legal for him to reimburse the modder for associated expenses, and that that is a loophole big enough to drive an oiltanker through.

So he could work on a mod with a modder and then reimburse the modder for the value of the computer use and electricity. The modder is not "making any money" just being reimbursed for his time on the project. Yes this works legally.

I administer several contracts that specifically state my organization cannot "make a profit" on the contracts, and yet we support the organization, the contract work, and some other work on the income because all these terms can be legally/and accoutingly :) twisted beyond recognition.

Just be circumspect with how you characterize the contract.

Sneaky sneaky lawyer stuff! Like I said, I won't tell anyone :P

man I worked for Microsoft and IBM if this was agaisnt law suit I wouldnt ask at first place ^^

You could PM me with what you had in mind in terms of civs, traits etc.

Probably it's small stuff not worth paying for anyway.

Donations are a similar loophole. We actually have big problems with this kind of stuff concerning political parties in Germany

At least you have democratic parties! Dutch politics include no-womens-allowed parties and a couple with just 1 person talking (and the rest not being allowed to say a word).

*yes, offtopic, has been handled anyway :D*
