I have noticed in the last few days when I've been trying mods that they don't work when Lua files are involved. ITs fine with XML only mods, but LUA causes issues.
I've run into this and I believe it's a bug. I found out that my custom map (see full discussion here) would crash when I ran it from the regular user custom map directory, but it runs just fine if you copy the file into DLC maps directory within the application package itself.
