I have now come up with a war plan for the first phase with the war on Babylon. Here is the plan I have created below. If you have comments, post them here within 12 hours before they become TC instructions.
The War Plan against Babylon
by Sarevok, Minister of Defense
Assesment of the Enemy:
Babylon is stronger than us in production and in infastructure at this point in time. This gives them the advantage of moving their troops from the capital quickly, but the roads near the frontiers are weak and it will take a long time for a general offensive to be launched by their main forces. Babylon is still in the Ancient age, so technology will not be a problem here. Also, and Key to war, Babylon has yet to link up their Iron resource, giving us an initial advantage.
Babylon is at medium military strength with us, but will be in an ugly position if forced to fight on many fronts. This was clearly shown in WW1 whenre the british fronts of Mesopotamia, German East, and Salonika were more of a drain on recources than a threat to the enemy. We have many scattered warriors coming back from exploration that can create trouble behind babylon's lines and force them to bleed forces. Despite this, we will need at least one ally to force Babylon to capitulate.
The Main problem is that our production is not effective enough to last a long war, forcing our initial operations and sucess on the active army. We will need to pretty much use all of Berry's production to build units up while our workers get our infastructure and production improved. We have some reserve troops, notably what is around Buto that we can pull south to fight on what will probably be the main front at Santa Lucia and Nippur.
Our Goals:
- Sieze initial locations for early victories
- Gain at least 1 ally
- Turn Berry into a production Machine
- Start wars across several Babylonian fronts
Total Armed forces:
- 15 Warriors
- 1 Archer
- 6 Spearmen
- 6 Swordsmen
- 3 Horsemen
- 3 Galleys
Fronts:
Nippur Front:
Assesment:
This front will likely be where the Brunt of the fighting will take place, so I have decided to put the main force here to sieze initial territory, then to hold out and kill babylonian units when they come. For this, we have 3 units just outside of Nippur, which has no roads connecting it and it probably lightly defended. The Immediate goal is to sieze that city to draw up Babylon's fores up on that front. Then, we would hold out and kill any unit that enters the city radius using troops from the garrison which will eventually include more swordsmen and some Horsemen from the Buto Area.
- 2 Warriors and 1 Swordsmen outside of Nippur to sieze the city immediately. They are to hold the city and the Swordsmen and possibly the warriors (at least one would be left as garrison however) to attack any unit that enters the radius of the city.
(The bolded area is reffered to as the "Nippur Instructions"
- 1 Swordsmen in Santa Lucia to proceed to Nippur and perform the "Nippur instructions"
- 1 Swordsmen in VM to head to Nippur and perform the "Nippur Instructions"
- 2 Horsemen near the Egypitian City of Buto to head to the Nippur front, They will not arrive for this turnchat, and their instructions will depend on what happenes in the next 10 turns.
- The Swordsmen in Production at VM and SL are to perform the "Nippur Instructions". Any military unit made in the immediate area is to head there. I will require a spearmen eventually to garrison Nippur.
Mure-Groton Front:
Assesment:
Mure is not an essential city, but it is the last stronghold before the area near Groton, which isnt defended well enough. Mure is to be an "Attention Getter" to babylonian troops and force them to divert their forces. While this is happening, out forces near Groton are to make an attempt to sieze Zaliqum while this distraction is made. The Iron in Mure is to bring Babylonian troops there. The City will not be reinforced, and to be held as long as possible.
- All units in Mure to hold and possiblt to attack units in the City Radius. If 50% or more of the units in Mure are killed, abandon the city and camp the moutains outside of the city to kill units in the area as a last-ditch attempt to draw troops there.
- The Warrior NE of Mure is to head to Mure, Making the Garrison total of 4 units.
- Any units in Mure are to hold the city at all costs.
- 1 Swordsmen in Sanction to kill the Barbarian, and to head to Groton to reinforce Zariqum when attacked.
- 1 Swordsmen in Groton to Attack and Hold Zariqum as long as possible. When more units enter the city from producition in the general area or the reinforcements from Sanction arrive, Sorties can be launched.
- Any unit created East of (And including) Montipellier go to the "Mure-Groton" Front to attack any unit that comes near the cities we hold.
Sippar Front:
Assesment:
Sippar is in Southern Babylon, it has no road links to it and therefore is not supplied. Nor is the City north of it, Shuruppak. We have a Elite Warrior near Sippar coming back from exploration. A good idea to create havok in their vackyard would be to try to use this warrior to sieze both cities. Naturally, if the warrior was wounded at Sippar, they would heal before moving onto Shuruppak. This is an attempt to draw forces in the area to divert troops from the main battles in the north.
- 1 Warrior S of Sippar to Sieze the city, heal, then Sieze Shuruppak. I suggest Sippar be raized so we do not have to hold 2 cities with 1 unit and to weaken enemy morale.
Other Units:
- 1 Warrior NW of Cijam to Guard Cijam for Egyptian Expansion attempts
- 1 Warrior in Vandelay to act as a settler guard
- 1 Warrior near the egyptian city of Buto to proceed to DR, then to guard any Settlers needing a guard or to head for the Nippur Front.
- all Galleys to explore coasts and sink Barbarian or possibly Babylonian ships.
This is the Current War Plan I have come up with. Again if there are any questions or suggestions, post them here.
