Sorry if I put this in the wrong place...
I'm looking to change the "Optimal number of cities" rule value in a saved game. Does anyone know if any of the .sav editors do this? If not, if someone could tell me where it is in the .sav file, I'd hexedit my file if I had to.
I've been playing an "Earth (Standard)" game for about a month now (a single game) and I don't want to start over. I'm one of those people who likes to take a long time with each turn and micromanage everything...
In the last few days I educated myself on corruption after I was furious to find that corruption doesn't virtually dissappear after changing to Democracy as the manual indicates. Imagine you've just finished conquering all of north and south america, then changed your govt. to Democracy fully expecting the rampant corruption in your 40 cities to mostly be a memory, only to find Democracy isn't all it's cracked up to be...
So, I've found that the editor that came with the game allows the "optimal cities" value to be changed in the .bic files for the base rules for generated map games and for the Earth scenarios, but it appears that the rules get embedded in the saved game file once a game has been started and the .bic file is never consulted again. Please, someone who has experience with the .bic and .sav files tell me if this is true.
I'm playing with 1.21f on Win ME.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
