Mouse Flickering & Bad Performance

Hi All - love civ4 lurv it!

Everything in the game works fine (albeit slow performance) except my mouse flickers CONSTANTLY, very distracting and also seems to be causing slowdown at end of turns. Thought maybe was my mouse drivers, being an a4tech it had a taskbar icon running the middle mouse button stuff, but I just got rid of that.

Any ideas?

A side note, here's my specs:

p4 2.4ghz
winXP
512
GEFORCE FX 5600
newish gigabyte mobo

^^^ with the above system should I expect smooth gameplay? Coz at lowest settings it's still pretty jerky

Yeah, I had the same problem, I think that my video card, which is supposedly good enough to support the game fine, just can't quite handle it.

i have a geforce fx 5600 128mb graphics card, it can play Quake 4 and Half Life 2 fine. It's not my graphics card.

Exact same problem: insane mouse flicker, and the ocassional mini-map/globe-view graphical glitch. Other than that, the game is running pretty well (though it does noticeably degrade in performance the longer I play).
