I started out moving my Palace early on in the game because it was at the bottom of a huge continent which I decided to conquer thoroughly. I built the Forbidden Palace first, which helped considerably.

I realised that moving the Palace was a really great thing to do, you can build it in a city about the fourth city away from your current Palace, and it doesn't take too long to build. In the meantime you can build heaps of Improvements in the cities close by, thus raising your cultural value significantly.

Your original cities near the Forbidden Palace then become troop creaters, making troops in insanely quick time.

You can also do a Palace Hop by buiding 2 Palaces at different distances so that it can be moved more quickly (be careful as sometimes it can move too quickly!)

Somehow this seems to me the only way to combat corruption and waste at distances from the centre of your Empire. Also, I don't know if this just my imagination, but some of the benefits of building a Palace in a city seem to remain after you have made the hop. Maybe someone can tell me more about this. I am a fairly new player, easily bum sore, and worry about DVT so I need some advice before I get bored and move on..

I don't understand corruption fully, but I think the palace corruption you're noticing might be part of the palace corruption exploit that's been mentioned here somewhere.

Ah ha. Now I understand.

Thanks Chieftess.

Since I'm so bad at Civ I might keep using this exploit until they feel fit to fix it.
