Music

I think that would be even more tiring than the current tunes, and would be harder to make.

To quote a movie I love...

"If the point is to get him, Timmy, into a good school, I think it's absurd to focus on...replacement tires."

So, let's get Timmy into a good school first, if you know what I mean.

I like the national anthem idea. I would use the anthem in rotation with others in soundtrack during periods of diplomacy. On the official civ 3 site there are availabe for download backgrounds of beautiful artwork of the various original version civilizations. The German desktop background in red, black and white stating brotherhood of the iron will comes to mind. I would like to see images such as these used randomly as the start menu screen at launch. A flowing flag, overlayed with moving civ specific imagery as the national anthem plays would be a stirring start to your civilization 3 experience. Perhaps a bit of propaganda to tickle your interest in a diffirent civilization.

No idea too small or too great.

Why, oh WHY would it be boring? Germany would be further reinforced as my favorite civ, with Hohenfriedberger Marsch (1700's), Der Koniggratzer (1800's), and many more.

America would be fun, too. Tons of great military and other songs, there.

Would waste a lot of time that could be used elsewhere and what music would the Hitities use in the modern age? Besides I like listening to my own choice of music whilst playing...

Modern Hittite music would be simple. Pretty much any Mid-Eastern modern music would do.

I always turn the music down while I am playing. I have mediaplayer playing on the background.

I wouldn't mind if each civ had its own 'national anthem' for when you were in negotiations with them, like they had in the original Civ. (Provided they could find good ones for each civ. Some of the civ themes really sucked. The Zulu, Mongol, and Chinese themes come to mind.) But I think it would be excessive to have a wide variety of music to play for each individual civ just during the course of the game. Their time and money would be better spent elsewhere, I think.

as has been said on so many other threads, difficult to mod, but this will still be fairly easy, just download something from the internet

Keep all the old tunes, add some more -- but provide a checklist or some otherway to choose which ones you want. I just love the drum beatting AncECfull file -- and would play it in every era.

People actually listen to the Civ music? Oh my ...

Very occasionally I will listen to it but at the moment its turned off...

Even seperate music for Europeans, Asians, Mediterraneans, etc. would be great.

Listening to the same tunes for over 20 hours....... No thank you. Let's not waste any disc space to that.

For Germany, it should be Preussens Gloria at least (Glory of Prussia). And the theme of the German National Anthem.

But, as many others already have stated, what anthem would the Hittites, the Maya and the Babylonians have? Even the Marseillaise would sound funny for an ancient France, still being under monarchic rule...

I don't think I could stand 5 minutes of music while playing ANY game. I turn that off the first thing I do.
